The Holy Quran and Modern Science

Narrated by Abu Huraira the Prophet said, "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which Allah has revealed to me . (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

BLOOD CIRCULATION AND THE PRODUCTION OF MILK

The chemical reactions occur in the intestines and that, from there, substances extracted from food pass into the blood stream via a complex system; sometimes by way of the liver, depending on their chemical nature. The blood transports them to all the organs of the body, among which are the milk-producing mammary glands. In simple terms, certain substances from the contents of the intestines enter into the vessels of the intestinal wall itself, and these substances are transported by the blood stream to the various organs.

Quran Says:

And verily! In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers. (Surah 16. An-Nahl: 66). Also see ( surah 23. Surât Al-Mu'minûn : 21).

PAIN RECEPTORS PRESENT IN THE SKIN

Recent discoveries prove that there are pain receptors present in the skin without which a person would not be able to feel pain. When a doctor examines a patient suffering from burn injuries, he verifies the degree of burns by a pinprick. If the patient feels pain, the doctor is happy, because it indicates that the burns are superficial and the pain receptors are intact. On the other hand if the patient does not feel any pain, it indicates that it is a deep burn and the pain receptors have been destroyed. The Qur’aan gives an indication of the existence of pain receptors in the following verse:

Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allâh is Ever Most Powerful, AllWise. ( Surah 4. An-Nisâ': 56).

Prof. Tagatat Tejasen, Chairman of the Department of Anatomy at Chiang Mai University in Thailand, has spent a great amount of time on research of pain receptors. Initially he could not believe that the Qur’aan mentioned this scientific fact 1,400 years ago. He later verified the translation of this particular Qur’aanic verse. Prof. Tejasen was so impressed by the scientific accuracy of the Qur’aanic verse, that at the 8th Saudi Medical Conference held in Riyadh on the Scientific Signs of Qur’aan and Sunnah he proclaimed in public: “THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH AND MUHAMMAD (PBUH) IS HIS MESSENGER.”

THE EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE:

With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are expanding it. ( surah 51. Az-Zâriyât: 47).

We are expanding it is the translation of the plural present participle musi una of the verb ausa'a meaning to make wider, more spacious, to extend, to expand.

ALTITUDE:

Those whom Allah (in His Plan) willeth to guide He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying He maketh their breast close and constricted as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe (Surah 6 Al-An'am: 125)

THE WATER CYCLE

In 1580, Bernard Palissy was the first man to describe the present day concept of ‘water cycle’. He described how water evaporates from the oceans and cools to form clouds. The clouds move inland where they rise, condense and fall as rain. This water gathers as lakes and streams and flows back to the ocean in a continuous cycle. The water cycle is described by the Qur’aan in the following verses:

“Seest thou not that Allah sends down rain from the sky and leads it through springs in the earth? Then He causes to grow therewith produce of various colors:” (Surah 39 Az-Zumar: 21) , also see (Surah Al-Muminun 23:18 )

WINDS IMPREGNATE THE CLOUDS

“And We send the fecundating winds then cause the rain to descend from the sky therewith providing you with water (in abundance).” Surah Al-Hijr 15:22].

The Qur’aanic descriptions are absolutely accurate and agree perfectly with modern data on hydrology. The water cycle is described in several verses of the Glorious Qur’aan, including 7:57, 25:48 and 30:48.

THE STARS

As we know, the stars are heavenly bodies like the Sun. They are the scene of various physical phenomena of which the easiest to observe is their generation of light. They are heavenly bodies that produce their own light.

The word 'star' appears thirteen times in the Qur'an (najm, plural nujum); it comes from a root meaning to appear, to come into sight. The word designates a visible heavenly body without saying of what kind, i.e. either generator of light or mere reflector of light received. To make it clear that the object so designated is a star, a qualifying phrase is added as in the following Surah:

" By the sky and the Night-Visitor, who will tell thee what the Night-Visitor is, the Star of piercing brightness "( Surah 86 At-Tariq, verses 1-3: )

The evening star is qualified in the Qur'an by the word thaqib meaning 'that which pierces through something' (here the night shadows). The same word is moreover used to designate shooting stars (Surah 37, verse 10): the latter are the result of combustion. It is difficult to say whether these are referred to in the Qur'an with the same exact meaning that is given to the heavenly bodies in the present day.

THE CAUSE OF SEXUAL DISEASES:

Most of the sexual diseases are caused by the disorder in the way of life. More than a health issue, it is a moral issue. One can see what kind of strict warnings guidance have been given in the Quran to prevent this kind of diseases. Quran itself is a safeguard for all these diseases.

HOMOSEXUALITY:

- We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you?

"For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."

And his people gave no answer but this: they said "drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"

But We saved him and his family except his wife: she was of those who lagged behind.

And We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime! ( Surah 7 Al-A'raf : 80 -84) .

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: " If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done."(Tirmidhi,Ibn Majah-authentic).

ADULTERY

- " Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts from illegal sexual acts) . Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed " (Surah 70Al-Ma'arij :30)

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Receive (teaching) from me, receive (teaching) from me. Allah has ordained a way for those (women). When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female (they should receive) one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death. (Saheeh Muslim).

SEXUAL INTERCOURSE DURING MENSTRUATION:

When a women is on her period and is sexually active it is scientifically proven that chances of acquiring or transmitting sexually transmitted diseases increases greatly. HIV, Gonorrhea, chlamydia, Trichomonas,Bacterial Vaginosis etc. Blocked tubes, is only one after effect thus reducing fertility, or rendering the female sterile for life. Recurrent attacks of pelvic infection can lead to chronic pelvic pain which is secondary to multiple adhesions-scarring between the reproductive organs and the whole of the lower abdomen and pelvis. This is very debilitating and usually lasts a lifetime. The male also can get infected much more easily and have to suffer the consequences as well.

" They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution; so keep away from women in their courses and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves ye may approach them in any manner time or place ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean" (Surah 2 Al-Baqara:222)

When a man dies and his relatives are busy in funeral rites, there stands
an extremely handsome man by his head. When the dead body is shrouded, that
man gets in between the shroud and the chest of the deceased. When after
the burial, the people return  home, 2 angels, Munkar and Nakeer (names of
two special Angels),come in the grave and try to separate this handsome man
so that they may be able to interrogate the dead man in privacy about his
faith. But the handsome man says, "He is my companion, he is my friend. I
will not leave him alone in any case.  If you are appointed for
interrogation, do your job.  I cannot leave him until I get him admitted
into Paradise".  Thereafter he turns to his dead companion and says, "I am
the Qura'an, which you used to read, sometimes in a loud voice and
sometimes in a low voice.  Do not worry. After the interrogation of Munkar
and Naker, you will have no grief. When the interrogation is over, the
handsome man arranges for him from al_Mala'ul  A'laa (the angels in Heaven)
a silk bedding filled with musk. May Allah bestow this favour on all of us.
AMEEN AMEEN Rasulullah (Sallalloho alaihe wasallam) said, "On the Day of
Judgment, before Allah, no other intercessor will have a greater status
than the Qura'an, neither a Prophet nor an angel.
